The design for the new headquarters of Správa železnic emphasises the visual and functional connection between the individual parts of the building and their natural relationship with public space. The complex is conceived as an open and legible structure that supports everyday contact between employees while creating a clear and representative presence towards the city.

Flexibility is a key theme of the design. The internal layout can respond to changing ways of working, an evolving organisational structure and future operational needs. The individual work, shared and representative spaces are therefore designed to function both independently and as part of an interconnected whole.

The result is a contemporary office building that combines representativeness, efficient operation and long-term adaptability. The architecture supports collaboration, easy orientation and a high-quality everyday working environment.

Connectivity and Flexibility

Building C is connected in all directions by vertical gardens with floating staircases.

Suspended office floors face onto the courtyards, and their universal depth allows flexible changes to the internal layout.

Building A is envisaged as a reserve for future construction. Thanks to its connection to the internal street on the 3rd floor, it can naturally complete the whole complex in the future.

Visual Identity and Structural Principle

The visual identity of the design derives from the context of the grid of the future Terminal and binds the individual parts into a unified whole.

The grid also acts as a load-distributing spatial frame for the suspended floors, a support for photovoltaic panels and a shading element.

Energy Efficiency and Sustainability

With a view to a high energy standard and sustainability, the design uses external shading blinds, a highly insulated building envelope, heat recovery ventilation, heat pumps and smart building management.

The solution also includes the collection and storage of rainwater and greywater.
