n the Ryšánek’s Mill project we worked with two significantly different buildings. On the main street there is a historicizing house from the end of the 19th century whose original form we tried to restore sensitively. We removed the old deposits and restored the building to its original charm - the characteristic stucco plaster, cornices and decorative elements of the facade.
An industrial building from the 1960s adjoins the courtyard. We have stripped it down to its essence - simplicity, rawness, purposefulness. We have chosen large-format segmented windows in a modern design to support the original industrial expression. Although the buildings are typologically and historically quite different, they function today as a cohesive whole.
The original passageway and courtyard have also been transformed - formerly a utilitarian space for parking, now a place with front gardens and greenery that relates to the quieter character of the inner block.
