The design for a new urban district on the site of the former Jitona factory in Český Krumlov transforms an industrial area into a residential part of the town. The first building to be completed is the six-storey Krumlovský Klenot apartment building, which is becoming the most prominent landmark of the whole ensemble.

Its architecture draws on the character of Český Krumlov – its colours, varied skyline and relationship with the surrounding landscape – and translates them into a contemporary expression. Construction of the whole complex is divided into three phases and, once completed, it will offer 62 serviced apartments and 131 flats.

Architecture Inspired by Place

The character of the building is defined by elegant suspended boxes, slanting lines and a pronounced articulation of the mass.

The design works with the visual identity of Český Krumlov and the picturesque quality of the surrounding landscape, which also appears in the paintings of Egon Schiele. These motifs are not adopted literally but are reflected in the colour scheme, composition and overall expression of the building.

The First Phase of the Site's Transformation

Krumlovský Klenot launches the gradual transformation of the former Jitona industrial site into a new residential fabric. As the first completed building, it sets the architectural character for the further development of the area and creates a new landmark on the site.
