About the project

The urban study for Jaroměř proposes revitalizing public spaces with an emphasis on sustainability and quality of everyday life. It brings more greenery and water to the center—revitalizing the riverbank, retaining rainwater in the area, improving the microclimate, and promoting biodiversity. The historic city is turning back to the Elbe River, whose banks are being transformed into pleasant recreational areas. Streets and squares are becoming places for people to meet and for small businesses to return. The proposal connects places with a story into a walking circuit and complements them with contemporary architectural interventions that sensitively tie in with the historical context. The study also restricts car traffic and promotes pedestrian and bicycle accessibility, thus setting the principles for the long-term sustainable development of the city.
