In Lipno nad Vltavou, we are designing an ensemble of residential buildings that makes the most of its exceptional location by the reservoir, its open views of the landscape and direct contact with the surrounding nature. The architecture works with generous terraces facing the water and an extensive use of wood, which gives the buildings a natural mountain character and softens their scale.

We devote the same attention to the space between the buildings as to the buildings themselves. The design adds a public space with a small square, a children’s playground and places for everyday leisure and meeting. The project thus connects holiday and permanent housing with the landscape, creating an environment based not only on the view and proximity to the water, but also on the quality of shared space.

Architecture of the Building and Terraces

The main motif of the building is the generous terraces running along the entire length of the south-west façade. They open the flats up towards the Lipno reservoir and create a natural extension of the living space to the outdoors.

The wood used in the structure and on the façade gives the buildings a distinctive mountain character while softening their appearance. It is on the terraces that its natural quality comes through most strongly, creating a warmer and calmer atmosphere and making contact with the surrounding landscape more pleasant.

Public Space and Life between the Buildings

An important part of the design is not only the housing itself, but also the space between the buildings. The project therefore includes a new public space with a small square, a children’s playground and other places for spending leisure time.

This creates an environment that is not merely a backdrop for holiday homes, but a place for everyday life, meeting people and spending time outdoors.

The built form of the project differs from the original design shown in the visualisations. Changes made during construction affected the final appearance of the building.
