Transport and Technical Infrastructure Building of the Year 2025

Three of our projects have received awards in the Transport and Technical Infrastructure Building of the Year 2025 competition.

In the Reconstruction category, the revitalisation of the station building of Pilsen main railway station, whose interior we designed, was named the best. We approached the historic building with respect and without trying to return it to the past. We wanted to rediscover its natural character while connecting the building with the city, so we opened up the space and made it easier to navigate. The upper hall now functions as an urban arcade, and we brought the ticket offices and information desk together into a single, clearly legible point. The project team also includes SUDOP PRAHA a.s.

The second award-winning project is the cycle path in Loučovice, which received a special prize for its sensitive and exceptional approach to landscape revitalisation. The cycle path was not created as a new structure, but as a transformation of something that had long been part of the landscape. Rather than replacing the original concrete Spiro Canal, we wanted to read it differently. We let its trace stand out and embraced everything that time had left on it. For us, this project is above all about an approach to landscape in which it is sometimes enough to take away and let what already exists speak.

The final award-winning project is Sluneční ostrov (Sun Island). A place that originally served mainly for transit is becoming another part of the city for rest and relaxation by the water. The project is based on combining flood-protection logic with blue-green infrastructure, and it has created a quiet zone that supports biodiversity and natural cooling of the microclimate. The project is key to uniting both banks of the river and to integrating the exhibition grounds into the life of České Budějovice, as is planned for the future.
