About the project

In terms of massing and urban design, the proposal respects the existing structure of Prague’s Hanspaulka district. The plan includes thirteen individual villas and sixteen semi-detached houses. The architectural expression of the buildings draws inspiration from the formal language and color palette of Czech Modernism from the 1930s and the Dutch De Stijl movement. The proximity of the historic Baba housing estate played a key role in shaping the overall concept, which was approached with respect and humility.

The houses are two stories high, with a recessed top floor and flat roofs. They are carefully set into the terrain to respect the existing geomorphology of the site. The defining architectural motif is the composition of intersecting simple cubic volumes and color planes, which together create the overall identity of the residential complex.
