"We designed a multifunctional stadium that can host professional hockey players as well as the general public."
The new stadium in Hluboká nad Vltavou should stand in place of the current one, which bears the name of the famous hockey defender Miroslav Dvořák. The playing field was designed to meet the standards of NHL games, but it should not only serve the purpose of hockey competitions, but will become a venue for various social, cultural and sporting events, which will be attended by up to a thousand spectators.
But it won’t just be great hockey that visitors will be able to enjoy. Thanks to the location of the stadium and the transparent elements in the building’s cladding, there will also be a view of the entire city skyline, with the castle in the forefront.
In addition, the location has to some extent defined the look of the building itself. The stadium, in close proximity to other sports facilities, is situated on the banks of the Vltava River. Therefore, the design uses green copper sheet as the main material for the building’s shell, which is complemented by wood, referring to the architecture of the large buildings of the former Schwarzenberg estate. Wood is also abundantly represented in the interior.
