The Stodola Restaurant is located in the newly renovated building of the Element Hotel, which is at the foot of the ski slope in Lipno nad Vltavou.

The structured interior space, which is divided by load-bearing columns and walls, is used to create different corners with a specific atmosphere – higher seating at the drinks bar, seating at benches for large groups, more intimate seating in the view-separated parts of the restaurant.

The entrance area of the restaurant is visually connected to the kitchen by a dispensing bar, on the right side of the entrance there is a drinks bar with a view into the chilled beer tank storage. These two distinctive masses define the entrance and the main restaurant space, which further breaks down into smaller separate sections.

The interior design was created in collaboration with the graphic and design studio Bechyňský. In line with the restaurant’s name, its visual style and interior were designed to evoke the authenticity of the Šumava region and the simplicity and rusticity of a village building.

The basic materials used are wood and metal with black paint. The interior is complemented by large-scale period photographs by Josef Seidl from the foothills of Sumava.

The vertical wooden panelling of the bar is reminiscent of the slats used for barn cladding, the wooden benches evoke the feeling of sitting in old buildings. The simplicity and utilitarianism of a village barn is also written into the space above the bars, where metal relings bearing the logo and light fixtures are placed.

Due to the low ground floor clear height, the ceiling has been left open with the visible technology visually suppressed by the grey paintwork. The monochromatic colour scheme of the walls, ceiling and floor is contrasted by the red fabric ductwork and graphic photographs of Sumava.

The theme of the nearby cable car is recalled by the original cable car seats suspended from the ceiling, colour-coordinated to the interior.
