HUTS ON PONDS

DOBCICE, CZECHIA
2010

The Dobčice – Záboří biocorridor is a relatively wild landscape where many plant species still grow, many species of animals live and water flows, although less than in the past.

The nature park is publicly accessible, with a nature trail from Záboří to Dobčice, with statues, both wooden and stone, and bird and wildlife observation points along the route.

Like the two scribes Bouvard and Pécuche, Jiří Střítecký and Hynek Dvořák thought of building a pond. First “Lipanovicky”, then “Písařský”, then fishing huts and animals – fish, ducks and pheasants in an aviary, wild rabbits on an island, a game preserve for Cameroonian goats, buzzards. The cottages are each located on a pond on oak piles in the middle of the water. They have a spacious pier and shed, are equipped with beds, stoves, kitchen and shower – water is pumped by hand pump from the pond. On the shore there is a smoking hut and a large fireplace. Electricity is not installed to preserve authenticity, the hut is equipped with solar lamps. The original accommodation in wooden cabins situated on the water and in the trees will offer you an unusual experience. The cabins on the water (Verunka and Madlenka) are built on oak piles, surrounded by water, with a spacious pier and a shed for your fishing catch. The treehouse Amálka is raised to a height of 4 metres half above the ground and half above the water.
