RESIDENCE DŽBÁN

PRAGUE, CZECHIA
2019

The five-storey building of longitudinal shape is set on the extension of the street line of Radčina Street. It is also served by traffic from Radčina Street. The area between Radčina and Vlastina Streets will be pedestrian accessible through a passage through the centre of the building and a barrier-free ramp at the eastern façade of the building. The residential building is divided into two entrances with entrances from the sidewalk that runs along the northern facade. With its location and mass of 4+U towards the east, the building creates an accent on the corner of the imaginary intersection of Radčina and Vlastina streets.

The architecture of the house responds to the intersection of the two adjacent streets and the emerging corner. On the west side, a simple volume topped with regular balconies transitions into a dramatic termination of the terraced part of the eastern corner. At this point, the house is raised one story to 5 stories.  As seen from Radčina Street, the building has a distinctly horizontal and compact character. From the south towards Vlastina Street the building opens up with terraces and loggias. The basic mass of the house is considered in grey plasterwork, from which the white volumes forming the terraces of the house stand out. Everything is complemented by a pre-set facade of perforated sheet metal of natural colour.

The house contains 24 residential units in 2 cores (11+13), 35 parking spaces.
